Quatrième semaine de classe

Hello parents,

This week, we continued to work on the various people of the family "la fille, le garçon, la maman et le papa". We finished working on the body of papa et the one of maman. You will see them posted on our wall this week after we finish cutting them out.

We worked on the family tree and will continue to add photos and prints. Please stop by to add your prints. We used natural brown paper and made branches. Children had a lot of fun twisting the pieces of papers and making them into beautiful branches. We added photos and asked children to put their prints using the index finger.

We learned various songs: "Ma famille" to the tune of Frère Jacques. We also changed the lyrics to "Mes amis".

We read "La famille Bonbon au marché", "Cajou cåliné par sa petite soeur".

We continued to work on the letter A and introduced activities on the letter B including coloring and painting the letter, listening and singing nursery rhymes and songs "La famille B" et "En baillant"

We continue to work on vertical lines with the Papillons and  recognizing classmates in groups using the song "J'ai un nom" and the family tree with pictures.

Troisième semaine de classe

This week, we kept the children busy with lots of fun projects. Here is a bit of what we have done together.

We made prints of our hands and feet to represent the family of LPF. It was a fun project!

 We started our project on the different family members "tracing, sorting and gluing pictures of people. We started to paint "la fille et le garçon". We used various people in the classroom for this project and children helped with tracing.

We continued to decorate name tags and work on name recognition.

We started to work on the letter A and sang songs and nursery rhymes: "La lettre A a deux jambes" and "A petits pas la petite Alma".

We have lots of fun outside during recess and group exercise. We play group games with the numbers 1,2,3 "jump, run, turn around, stop".

We celebrated Théo's third birthday. His dad brought us some delicious homemade treats to class. Madame la directrice made him a crown with stickers to make him feel extra special.

Keep in mind that we work on a lot of things at school. We share some of the activities on the blog, but can't fit everything.

Deuxième semaine de classe

Children have made a lot of progress during the second week of school and are slowly adjusting to their new classroom, routines and friends.

This week, children continued to discover the many different areas and understand their functions. We continue to learn about identity before lining up to go to the bathroom or outside. Two lines "boys on one side and girls on the other" (garçons et filles).

In terms of language development, children are encouraged by all the staff to use these words on a daily basis: "bonjour, s'il vous plaît, merci, au revoir and more". They are also encouraged to ask for help and they do so by repeating after the teacher. We have enjoyed singing our routine songs and "Petit escargot".

We have worked on fine motor skills by understanding various concepts: "déchirer, froisser, plier, rouler, coller". We used news paper, glue and dot paint for this specific project.

Madame la directrice brought us a special treasure. Lots of fun ways to develop fine motor skills and create a fun card to take home.

Learning the skills of becoming a student is in progress. We continue to work on acceptance, sitting and sharing. Musical instruments and songs are used when it's time to clean up and come to circle time. We are making great efforts to know each other as well. Some have already made friends with one another.

We continue to explain the rules at school such as: no biting, hitting, pushing or screaming. The peace rose corner is still a novelty to some, but seems to work nicely with children.

We continued to read the books of week 1, but we also added new books as well: "Le loup est revenu" and "Calinours va à l'école". Some children are starting to recognize the titles and some can answer questions in relation to the books.

Expressing themselves with their body outside and exercise in the morning. Ex: stretching to the sky high and bending down to the earth with hands and feet: "On touche le ciel et la terre avec les mains et les pieds".  We worked on balance and understanding the concept of a straight line. We pretended to walk on a piece of wood and made sure to stay on it to avoid falling in the river.
